The Clean Access Agent is required to connect to SHC network. If you connect your computer to the Internet somewhere other than SHC, the Clean Access Agent is not required and simply will not appear. However, if you want to remove the Clean Access Agent permanently, go to Start...Control Panel...Add or Remove Programs. Select Clean Access Agent and click Remove.
Clean Access
Cisco Clean Access (CCA) verifies that student computers meet criteria that will help ensure the overall security of the SHC network. When a student first connects to the Spring Hill College network, CCA will deliver software to the computer if it runs Windows ME or newer. Windows 98, Mac OS and Linux computers will be scanned by the system, but will not have any software downloaded.
Students will install CCA when they arrive at school. If all CCA requirements are already installed on a student machine, then the installation of CCA should go very smoothly, with network access available very quickly. ITS recommends that you have your password handy before you start Clean Access. You will not be able to access the internet until the Spring Hill College Clean Access Agent is installed and has run successfully on your system. If you do not know your username & password, please contact the HelpDesk (helpdesk@shc.edu or 251.380.2276).
Installing Clean Access (CCA)
The first time you attempt to access a website while on the Spring Hill College network, you will receive a redirection message. You may also receive a Security Alert pop-up. If you receive the Security Alert, please click Yes to continue to the Clean Access login page. If you do not receive the Security Alert you will be automatically forwarded to the Clean Access login page.
You'll next be asked to authenticate your account, meaning simply that you need to provide proper credentials (i.e., username and password) in order to gain access to the network. When the login screen loads, use your network/e-mail username (e.g. "shc\jraldo"). Enter your password for network/email access nd click Continue. Note that the password is case sensitive .
Once you have logged into Clean Access successfully, a Network Security Notice page will display with a button to download the current Clean Access Agent. Please click the button to download the client. You will be prompted to either Run /Open, Download or Cancel. You can either save the file (perhaps to teh Desktop for quick access) or run it from this prompt.

You may received a security warning. If you do, click Run.

Double-click on the CCAAgent_Setup.exe, if needed. The Welcome Screen will launch. Click Next to continue.
Continue to click Next at any prompts and when you see the Install button on the Ready to Install screen.
When the software has completed its installation, you will see the following screen. Click Finish.
Once Clean Access Agent is installed, the login window will appear automatically whenever your computer attempts to access the network. Enter your username and password and click Login.
[NOTE: If the Clean Access Agent log in window doesn't appear automatically, you probably have an installed firewall (e.g., Norton Internet Security) preventing the window from popping up. To bypass this problem, modify your firewall rules to allow Clean Access Agent (port 8905). The method for modifying the rules vary depending on the firewall you're running.]
Connecting to Clean Access - and Remediation
After you successfully log into the system, Clean Access checks your computer for vulnerabilities to make sure it meets the necessary security requirements for connecting to the network. If no vulnerabilities are found, your computer is considered compliant and is granted full network access. If vulnerabilities are found, your computer is moved into remediation.
If your computer fails the vulnerability assessment, it is moved into remediation, and you are provided with directions for fixing/patching it. You are given temporary limited network access in order to download any necessary software.
